The Lost Tomb of Jesus?

Feb 26, 2007

For those who have heard about the upcoming Discovery Channel special (asserting that Jesus' remains have been found in a Jerusalem tomb), here are a few resources you may wish to read:

This should prove to be a fantastic God-given opportunity to share the gospel. Christianity depends on the resurrection of Christ. Our faith is grounded in objective reality and the entirety of the Christian faith rest on the death and resurrection of Christ.

IF (and just assume for a moment) Jesus remains have been found we can stop the preaching, teaching, and defending the faith. Life will change from self denial to self fulfillment. We can all start to give into our natural tendencies that have been called sin and start to indulge in things of this world. I'll be among the first to toss my bibles, commentaries, and books. The way we talk to others about this special should be presented just this way. In reality this is what Paul was saying in 1 Corinthians 15:12-20.

However...If the special is wrong and Christ did rise...It validates all of Scripture and we had better listen to what God has said.

It's really all just basic logic.

Let's let the world know that IF Jesus is still dead we have nothing to hold onto. Let's let the world know that we don't hold to our faith because it offers a nice moral system or nice principles to live life by. Our faith is not a faith that is based on ideas and opinion. It is based on a RISEN Christ. It is based on a public event. Not a private personal revelation. You can take Buddha out of Buddhism or Mohammed out of Islam but a Christianity with out Christ is nothing.

Let's let the world know we are ready and willing to toss our Bible IF Jesus is still dead...But let's also confront them with what a living Christ means.
